The SAVE THE YOUTH MIME/Creative Dance Group was
formed as part of Save The Youth’s Performance & Musical Arts
programs. The primary group and original team operate out of the
Bessemer/Birmingham/Jefferson County (Alabama) area. Save
The Youth’s creative dance and MIME training allows youth to
express the words of a song through creative body movements
while teaching young participants to express feelings and increase
their self-esteem.
Save The Youth’s goal is to use creative dance and MIME
techniques to open the youth’s sensory awareness. The major
expectation is for the youth to connect their inner body/mind with
faith-based concepts/determination, ability to deal with outer
world problems, generate positive control of their emotions,
exercise their bodies while generating increased self-esteem. It
generates techniques for expanding their minds, bodies, emotions,
and spiritual relationship with others.
